How to give my child the best start in 2023

Christmas has come and gone and it’s that lovely period between Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve where you get to bask in chocolate and leftover Christmas turkey, sort out all of the recycling and rubbish from the big day and find homes for each new present – how is there enough room for this many gifts each year?!

It’s a time for reflection. A time to relive all of the memories of 2022, the good and the bad. It’s a time to think about all that has happened and what can be taken from each event. Your child(ren) crowded around the living room trying out their new toys, completely relaxed and carefree, with no idea that the strike of midnight for 2023 is only days away.

Once the 1st of January 2023 arrives, the panic starts. Parents wonder when they’ll ever get the Christmas decorations down and put them away with the rush of work and their child(ren) returning to school. They wonder when the next relaxing, quiet moment will be… you may be wondering how you’re going to settle your child back into the daily routine. Whether your child is at day school or boarding school, the transition can be difficult after the busy but relaxing Christmas period.

Some families find that during the reunions of the festive period, things start to reveal themselves – the passion your son has for medical sciences or foreign languages, the talents your daughter has playing piano or dancing around the dining room in her new ballet slippers. Perhaps your child isn’t the happiest at their current school – we do hope this isn’t the case, but these things do come into the light when the entire family is together.

You may find yourself wondering, is my child getting the encouragement and promising education they need and deserve to nurture these talents and passions? Can their current school provide all of the experience and knowledge to help them go far and prepare for their next steps?

Don’t panic!

There are so many reasons to choose a new school in the new year, but it is important to make sure you’re not making any irrational decisions. It is important to take time to consider the information you’ve gathered during the holidays, to thoroughly evaluate their current educational environment and experience.
