Educated at a top independent boarding school and Oxford University, Mark is a Consultant in anaesthesia at Peterborough & Stamford Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, a post he has held since 2001. He was the Royal College of Anaesthetists Tutor for anaesthesia at Peterborough between 2003 and 2008 and was elected a Royal College of Anaesthetists Primary FRCA Examiner in 2010. This involves at least two full weeks per year of examining trainee anaesthetists in physiology, pharmacology, physics & clinical measurement, and clinical anaesthesia. He has, more recently, diversified into medical management becoming Associate Clinical Director for Perioperative Care at Peterborough City Hospital in 2012.
Mark has extensive experience of medical recruitment including the selection of trainees for anaesthesia and maintains a busy clinical caseload, with broad interests which include preoperative assessment and preparation of high-risk patients for major surgery, cardiopulmonary exercise testing, and anaesthesia for urology and major colorectal surgery.
He is passionate about supporting and encouraging the next generation of doctors who have chosen an extremely demanding but rewarding career in the setting of a National Health Service, which is undergoing the greatest degree of change since it was founded.
It is this passion and experience which Mark uses to assist our clients in preparing for medical interviews and applications. Sharing his vast experience of working within the NHS, gives candidates a highly valuable and rare insight into the life of a doctor, enabling them to attend interviews feeling they have a broad spectrum of knowledge and can use this to demonstrate their well-considered and committed ambition to become a doctor.
